On 11/11, our 8th grade students attended the FutureYOU Career Expo at the Sunnyview Expo Center, hosted by the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce. Nearly 800 eighth graders from across the area participated in the event.
Students had the chance to explore careers across all 16 career clusters — from agriculture and business to law and public safety — with over 60 local businesses and organizations represented. The expo offered engaging displays and hands-on activities that allowed students to discover a variety of career paths and gain insight into future opportunities.
Snow, ice, and darker mornings make winter travel more dangerous for everyone – whether you are walking, driving, or rolling.
Tips for staying safe this season:
~ Give yourself extra time so you’re not rushing
~ Drive slowly and increase your following distance
~ Stay alert for pedestrians, especially near schools and crosswalks
~ Walk like a penguin – take short flat-footed steps to avoid slipping

Students have completed their research paper prewrites, searched out multiple sources, and have created outlines. These seniors will now begin their paper writing process.

They were given step-by-step directions, and had to copy what she did.
They didn't know what the outcome would be until they were done!
After all the lines and circles were complete, each student realized they had drawn a cute little turkey.
Some of the benefits of directed drawing with young students include:
*strengthens fine motor control and hand-eye coordination
*helping to build confidence in their drawing abilities
*improves listening skills and the ability to follow directions
*boosts vocabulary and language skills through step-by-step instruction
*encourages attention to detail and spatial awareness
*reinforces shape and line recognition, supporting early handwriting
*fosters creativity and pride in personal artwork

4 students (Ryker, Rylen, Dominick, and Isla) were recently recognized in the "Get Caught Reading Challenge." They each received a poster and a book to keep. 🕮
In addition, the library held an estimation contest regarding how many books there are in the OES Library, with the winner receiving a poster and a book. Azaliah's estimate of 16,000 books was only off by 45! The OES Media Center is home to 16,045 books. 📚
Mrs. Retzlaff's class is excited, as they earned a $25 gift certificate and classroom treat for being the first classroom to earn a Bingo during the Scholastic Book fair.
Congratulations to all, and keep up the good work reading!

Wishing everyone a great few days!

Families came together to enjoy chili & chicken noodle soup for dinner.
They were then able to work together to create a placemat that was laminated so they can put it on their table at their own Thanksgiving dinner.
The big finale of the night was the caramel apple bar! There were syrups and toppings as far as the eyes could see (and the smiles proved just how yummy it was)!
We are thankful for all of our Omro Foxes students and families!

DPI REPORT CARD EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS! We recently shared that on the recently released DPI report card, the School District of Omro achieved an overall accountability rating of Exceeds Expectations. The 2024-2025 report card marks the fifth consecutive year of achieving this distinction.
#FOXPRIDE! 🎉 We're celebrating a fantastic school report card, showcasing the hard work across our district!
DID YOU KNOW? Attendance is a key factor in this success. Student attendance is measured on the report card and is critical for positively impacting all other areas. Let's keep showing up!

Omro High School selects a senior student each month to be the Student of the Month. Seniors are selected for their academic successes, leadership abilities, citizenship, and extracurricular activities. The seniors who are selected for this honor are also invited to attend an American Legion meeting for recognition by the sponsoring organization and may go on the ballot to be a graduation speaker.
The November Student of the Month is Ava.
Throughout high school, Ava has been involved with Omro Basketball, Battle of the Books, Spanish Club, Book Club, and Blaze Girls’ Basketball League. Additionally, she is a member of National Honor Society (NHS) and Student Athlete Leadership Training (SALT). Ava has also volunteered her time working at Shopping Day with Kids, OES Reading Buddies, Highway Cleanup, Church Picnics, Waukau Chicken BBQs, Milis Strong Track Meet, HB Patch Field Days, Booster Club Golf Outing, Class Concessions, Toilet Talk, and Omro Hoops Club Tournaments.
Outside of school, Ava enjoys reading, baking, cooking, walking, gardening, scrapbooking, and journaling.
After graduation, she plans to attend South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, playing basketball and pursuing an engineering and business degree in Business Management in Technology.

A month of planning, a 12 hour shift, and 20,000 steps later...."10 Buckaroos"-- was open for business on Wednesday, November 5. This event served as a capstone project for the class and provided the students with a "real life" type of experience of working in the Restaurant and Food Service Industry.
Students in Mrs. Morse's Advanced Culinary Arts class applied for their roles and created this restaurant from the ground up. The Front of the House Staff-- Manager Dina, Host Blake, Waitstaff Jayden, Carson, and Vanessa--- decorated the dining room, set the tables, and served the customers. The Back of the House Staff-- Head Chef Dylan and Assistant Chefs Cole, Jazmyn, Walker and Nate-- chose the menu and prepared the food.
The class served over 70 guests for lunch and dinner. The menu consisted of: Buckaroo Burgers, Pulled Pork, and Loaded Mac and Cheese, with an optional side of Ham and Cheese Pasta Salad. Desserts included warm Apple Crisp and Brownie Sundaes.
"It was a memorable and enjoyable dining experience for our students, staff, and community. Thank you to all who came to dine and supported this class project." - Mrs. Cindy Morse
