On Monday, November 11, our students and staff honored Veteran's Day by participating in programs throughout the buildings. The first program of the day was at H.B. Patch, followed by OES, and then the middle school/high school program. Our students sang and played songs, wrote poems, created posters and cards, and showed their respect to the Veterans. Thank to all of the Veterans for their service!

Did you know that the School District of Omro offers a wide variety of classes that provide both High School and Postsecondary credit? Omro students have the opportunity to enroll in dual-credit courses - CAPP, AP, and/or FVTC courses. These options give our Omro students a strong educational foundation as they prepare for 2-year or 4-year colleges. By acquiring post-secondary credits while in High School, our students could also save time and money when they move on to college. Are you interested in learning more about our CAPP, AP, and FVTC course offerings? Check out our Curriculum and Instruction website for more information (omro.k12.wi.us/page/curriculum-instruction).

On Thursday, November 7, the School District of Omro hosted Full STEAM Ahead Family Night. This event celebrated National STEAM Day! STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. This event brought together our Students, Families, Educators, Partners, and the Omro Community to show how important, rewarding, and fun STEAM is within our educational system. STEAM is more than just a curriculum within the School District of Omro. It is a way of teaching and learning that encourages students to explore their world through Curiosity, Experimentation, and Creativity. An Omro student: -- Might build a robot (Engineering) -- Learn how to code its movements (Technology) -- Understand the physics behind its operation (Science) -- Apply mathematical algorithms for precise actions (Math) -- Design a beautiful structure around it (Art) This holistic approach helps students see connections between subjects and prepares them to tackle complex, real-world challenges. For our Omro students, STEAM promotes Critical Thinking, Collaboration, and a Passion for Learning. They become problem solvers who are not afraid to try new things and who understand the value of failure as a learning tool. These skills are essential in a fast-changing world, where many jobs of the future don’t yet exist. By inviting families and the Omro Community to our Full STEAM Ahead Family Night event, people of all ages are able to engage in hands-on projects and demonstrations. Events like this demystify complex subjects, inspire lifelong curiosity, and bring families and communities together in a celebration of knowledge, creativity, and innovation. STEAM is important because it empowers students to think big and imagine solutions beyond today’s boundaries. It plants the seeds for a future where creativity and knowledge work hand in hand, shaping a world that is not only technologically advanced but also thoughtfully designed and full of possibility. Many thanks to our staff, students, and community for all of their efforts in creating a fun and educational experience!
