Congratulations to OMS and OHS Fox Friday winners from Friday, February 9, 2024! These students were nominated by staff members or other students for demonstrating the Fox Four (Safety, Responsibility, Respect, or Positivity).

Last week, eighth grade students in Mrs. Hughes' Social Studies classes completed stations learning more about slavery and abolition in the years leading up to the Civil War. They read primary sources, looked at images, and viewed videos about Fredrick Douglass and Abolitionism.
This week’s Omro Staff Spotlight features Mr. Brad Clark. He is an OMS Physical Education and OHS Health teacher. It is Brad's first year of teaching here in Omro, although it is his twenty-first year in education.
Brad enjoys exercising, basketball, and yardwork.
When asked about his favorite thing about working for the School District of Omro is, he immediately replied with, “the students.”
Thank you, Mr. Clark, for all you do for our students!
Congratulations to the high school band students who were nominated and selected to participate in this year's Flyway Conference High School Honors Band. They spent the day rehearsing with other top band students from each of our conference schools. Throughout the day, all 75 members of the band worked with the conference band directors and with guest conductor Dr. Toby Shucha, the band director at Ripon College. The day culminated with an evening concert.
Recently, OMS students in Mrs. Becker's grade 7 Social Studies classes shared "Sights to See in Africa" with one another.
Last week our 6th grade students had the chance to select a free book through the Partners in Literacy Program with Scholastic Books. Students in grades 4K - 6 can select a free book 3 times a year in January, March, and May. Omro School District is happy to promote this program as it gets more books into the hands of our students.
Photos included are of Mrs. Schrimpf's 6th-grade students and their new books. Happy reading everyone!

February is Winter Walk to School month where walking and outdoor activity is encouraged all month long. Middle and High School Students who participate in Winter Walk to School Month can enter to win PRIZES every week!
Week 1: February 1st - 10th: Give Your Heart a Gift
A great outdoor activity to remember to keep our hearts healthy is an outdoor walk. Get outside this week and go for a stroll. Students can keep track of their walks with the activity log shared this week in their email.
Did you know that walking outside in winter can wake up your immune system? 30-45 minutes of moderate aerobic activity each day can help you fight off those pesky winter colds.
Thank you to the Omro community who attended Omro Foxes Night at The Herd in January. The Omro Middle School Engagement Committee organized the event as a fun evening to share with our community. At The Herd game the high school band played pre-game pep band, the high school choir sang our national anthem, and the high school dance team performed a routine at half time. It was an entertaining evening for everyone involved.
High school music theory students wrote a story and then composed a piece of music that used different elements of music to help tell their story.
On January 17, Mrs. Babcock's second grade class had a presentation on Australian culture. Her friend, an Aussie native, shared aspects of her country including climate, animals, food, money, books, lingo, history, exports, the meaning of the flag, and much more. It was bonza!

Congratulations to Airis who was selected by Mrs. Morse, to be a 2023-2024 Quarter 2 CTE Student Spotlight for the Family and Consumer Sciences Department!

Best wishes on a great competition!
