Congratulations to OMS and OHS Fox Friday winners from Friday, December 8, 2023! These students were nominated by staff members or other students for demonstrating the Fox Four (Safety, Responsibility, Respect, or Positivity).
Staff members were nominated by students or other staff members for being a role model, an advocate for students, or having a positive connection with students.
Elementary students in Omro have a new option for a Fox Paw prize! Thank you to Marcus Theatres for donating BOGO (buy one, get one free) movie passes. Students who have their name drawn may select this prize or any of the others that are available to celebrate being a Fox 4 student!
Thank you, Marcus Theatres for your support!
This week’s Omro Staff Spotlight features Mrs. Kristen Whitney. She is a science teacher at Omro High School. Kristen is in her first year here in Omro and fourteenth year in education.
Kristen enjoys attending her children’s 4H and sporting events, along with fishing, bowling, cooking, baking, gardening, and reading.
When asked what she enjoys about working for the School District of Omro, she said, “As a new staff member, my favorite thing is how welcoming and helpful everyone has been. I already feel like a part of the Fox Family!”
Thank you, Mrs. Whitney, for all you do for our students!
Tonight (Thursday, December 7, 2023) is the 2023 Elementary Winter Concert! Students in Kindergarten, grade two, and grade four have been hard at work to prepare a performance for all to enjoy.
Sources of Strength Giving Tree!
Please consider donating a new personal hygiene product to make someone’s Christmas a little brighter.
*All donations will be given to the Omro Food Pantry.*
So simple…
- Grab a tag and bring it with your item unwrapped to the OHS Guidance Office.
- Put your name and OHS Fox Time Teacher on the back.
- The OHS Fox Time with the most items collected will earn a treat!
Mrs. Thomas and some of her students have been hard at work to write and publish a book titled, "Oh English." According to the Dear Reader page, "the title was inspired by a second-grade classroom in the School District of Omro. During word study, if a rule or pattern contradicted something already taught, the teacher would put her hand to her forehead to signal the class to say, 'Oh, English'." This resonated with Mrs. Thomas, as many of us have had that very same thought when learning about the English language.
The book that students have written creates a rule guide to the more common patterns found in the English language. Students were fully engaged in the writing process, using text features to organize information, creating and revising rough drafts to become final drafts, and submitting their work to be published.
Congratulations to Mrs. Thomas and her OMS students on their soon-to-be-published piece. We are looking forward to having the book in our media center!

Congratulations to our Fox Paw winners from H.B. Patch and OES for the week ending on December 1, 2023. Thanks for exemplifying the Fox Four of being safe, responsible, respectful, and positive!
OMS students have some different Fox Paw opportunities this month, so there will not be any Fox Paw winners shared on Fridays for OMS.
Recently, AP Biology students investigated how cells maximize their surface area to volume ratio using agar blocks as model cells. The "cells" were made with a chemical that changes color in response to pH. The students had to creatively modify their model cells to allow for more diffusion/color change.

4k students had their annual "Paper Mache Day" earlier in November. They each received a balloon and covered it with a layer of newspaper and then a layer of brown paper, all held together with goop!
Then they had their foot traced to cut out, which enabled them to make the turkey head by adding eyes, a beak, and a wattle.
They each had to tell 5 things they were thankful for to add to each feather.
We would like to thank the moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, and big brothers who came to help!
A special thanks to Mrs. Potratz, Officer Peeters, and Mrs. Bernier for stopping by to get messy with us!
Ms. Downs' third grade class has been working hard on following the Fox Four expectations. To celebrate their hard work and filling a couple more Fox Paw charts, they had a PJ, Movie, and Fort Day! Great job third graders!
Students in Mrs. Morse's Food, Family & Society and Culinary Arts classes volunteered to help assist the Omro Area Community Center in baking cookies for their Breakfast with Santa event held on November 25. The classes prepared the dough, cut out, and baked over 14 dozen cookies for this annual event.
