Mrs. Morse's Culinary Arts class volunteered their time to prepare a healthy snack to share with the students at OHS to promote Heart Disease Health Month sponsored by Key Club and the American Heart Association. The Culinary Arts students prepared and bagged up over 300 servings of a heart healthy trail mix to distribute to all students.

CTE Student of the Quarter
Each quarter, the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department recognizes students for their outstanding contributions.
Congratulations to Xander who was selected by Mr. Hooks, to be a 2023-2024 Quarter 2 CTE Student Spotlight for the Agriculture Department!
The OHS students recently celebrated Winterfest. This week's Throwback Thursday post has images from the Winterfest celebration in 2000.
If you are a School District of Omro graduate or former student, what are some of your favorite Winterfest memories? If you went to school someplace different than Omro, did you have a week long school celebration during the winter season?
Two weeks until "Reading Takes You Places" takes over Omro Elementary from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on March 14. We are looking forward to seeing our district students and families at 2024's Omro Family Literacy Night!
Our 2024 Battle of the Books Teams from OES, OMS, and OHS represented the Omro School District in the Final State Test the last week of February. Results will be released the first week of March of how they placed among other schools throughout the state of Wisconsin. Great job teams!
Battle of the Books is a fun academic club that focuses on reading new or classic books and testing students' knowledge of what they read. The new list of 20 selected books is released in early June so students have a chance to read over the summer to prepare before the school year begins.
Any students in grades 4 - 12 can participate by forming a team of 2-4 members. Teams will battle each other by taking team tests on the books with the top team from each school moving on to represent Omro in the Final State Test. There will be a celebration for all participants in early Spring!

This is what happens when you actually read the recipe and measure accurately... you get perfect pancakes!! Breanna and Jose are students in Mrs. Morse's Food, Family and Society class. This lab was all about understanding abbreviations and conversions. Well done!!
Students in Intro to Psychology had fun playing with Legos and learning about research methods. Each group was tasked with building something out of Legos and writing down the directions or drawing a picture. Groups then had to switch Legos and try to rebuild them using the directions. The learning was that if the directions (operational definitions in research and experiments) are not clear and detailed, it is very difficult to replicate.
4K Round-Up, for the 2024-2025 school year, is tonight (Tuesday, February 27, 2024). We look forward to welcoming our new rising 4K students and their families! Families previously signed up to attend a 3:30 pm or a 5:00 pm session.

Winter Walk to School Month: Week 4 - Build a Snow Sculpture
Hmmm... that might be tricky this week. With temperatures being higher than normal and the lack of snow, the Week 4 challenge might look a little different.
Instead of building something out of snow, get outside for an "out of the ordinary for winter" activity. Play a round of frisbee golf, ride your bike, fly a kite, draw on your driveway with chalk, etc.
Prizes will be given out on Monday, March 4th. Students can watch their email to submit participation.
Did you know that cooler temperatures help you sleep better? Winter walking results in a more restful night's sleep.
Congratulations to OMS and OHS Fox Friday winners from Friday, February 23, 2024! These students were nominated by staff members or other students for demonstrating the Fox Four (Safety, Responsibility, Respect, or Positivity).

This week’s Omro Staff Spotlight features Mrs. Kari Sweeting. She is a grade 3 teacher at OES who has spent all 26 of her years of education here in Omro.
Kari enjoys reading, boating, exercising, and spending time with family.
When asked about a quote that resonates her, she shared, “If you don’t ask the question, you will never know the answer.”
Thank you, Mrs. Sweeting, for all you do for our students!
