Congratulations to OMS and OHS Fox Friday winners from April 19, 2024! These students were nominated by staff members or other students for demonstrating the Fox Four (Safety, Responsibility, Respect, or Positivity).
Staff members were nominated by students or other staff members for being a role model, an advocate for students, or having a positive connection with students.
Over Spring Break, members of Spanish 3 and Spanish 4 spent spring break discovering all of the amazing culture of Belize. The first day of the tour, the group tried it ziplining. After a traditional Belizean lunch of chicken, rice and beans, they visited a hot sauce factory and got to try a number of different peppers and sauces. Then they traveled to Xunantunich, a beautiful Maya city and climbed the Pyramid there. They could even see Guatemala, less than a mile away!
On their second day in Belize, the group started their day in a women's cooperative learning the traditional Mayan methods to make pottery and corn tortillas. In the afternoon, they canoed in the Macal River to experience the flora and fauna. They dropped toucans, iguanas, a white hawk, some howler monkeys and more.
On Day 3 of the Belize trip, students were surprised with a side trip to swim in a Cenote called the Blue Hole. Then, they went cave tubing. It was really cool (and a little scary) when everyone turned off their lights. They saw the areas of the caves that the Mayans used for a variety of ceremonies. In the evening, they went to a Garifuna museum to learn about their unique culture.
Next Friday, we will share a summary of days 4-6!

Student Safety is a priority of the School District of Omro! The April newsletter of Safe Routes to School is shared below. It has tips and advice about Earth Day, bike waterproofing, and cycling safety in the rain.
Mark your calendars for May 8, 2024, as that is National Bike to School Day!
The junior class is hosting prom on Saturday, May 4th and would like to invite the senior class.
Any OHS junior or senior can purchase a ticket for themselves, and one guest if they chose. You may bring a freshman or sophomore guest. If the guest is from another school, a guest form must be completed. These forms are in the main office, and tickets can also be purchased in the main office.
Please direct questions to the prom advisor, Ms. Jentz (mjent@omro.k12.wi.us)

Thank you to our Anchor Partners!
On Saturday, April 6, the Timber Rattlers and OMS partnered to provide an opportunity to raise funds for the OMS PTO. Mrs. Sabel did a great job running around the field during the game, collecting tennis balls and earning over $150 for the school fund. Thank you all those who attended and supported this opportunity.
This week’s Omro Staff Spotlight features Mrs. Tracey Miller. She is an English and speech teacher at OHS, who also teaches UWO CAPP and FVTC courses. Tracey is currently in her twenty-sixth here in Omro, and her twenty-ninth year overall.
Outside of school, Tracey enjoys reading, watching movies, shopping, bike riding, and being outdoors.
When asked what her favorite thing about working for the School District of Omro is, she said, “Coming back to the district that I attended and giving back to my community is my favorite thing about our district. I also like that our school feels like a family.”
Thank you, Mrs. Miller, for all you do for our students!
Earlier this month, Mrs. Gee and Ms. Jentz held an egg hunt for Book Club members.
Each egg had a number inside of it and that determined the order students would pick out a free book!
Mrs. Gee purchased a few boxes of new books through Book First, an organization that provides discounted, new books. All Book Club members received a new book!
They also got to pick out new stickers and bookmarks designed by OHS students Hadley and Morgan. Thank you to Mr. Turner and the Fab Lab made these designs come to life!
